There is an old Chinese saying: 'To read a book for the first time is to make an acquaintance with a new friend, to read it a second time is to meet an old one'. This pretty much sums up how, for many, the act of reading a book transports them to a whole new world of complete solitude and immersion in fictitious fantasy. For many people, a world without fiction is not worth contemplating, and there is a school of thought that book reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.

Well, I think its safe to say that winter is definitely upon us. The dark nights are coming in early and there is a frosty chill in the damp air. The Spy confesses to being a tad fatigued of late; like most other people my busy life can often take its toll. So, on occasion my mind has been known to drift away and fantasise about a day of pure indulgence and pampering.
